C.O.P.E.

C.O.P.E.

Committee on Political Education.

It is our non-partisan, pro-education organization that endorses educational friendly candidates for local, state, and national offices.  All endorsements are recommended by a majority of the COPE committee and approved by 2/3 vote of the executive board.  COPE is not funded from union dues.  COPE funding comes through voluntary payroll deductions and fundraisers.

Building Reps. can help COPE:

Meet and greet new employees in your building.

Have the appropriate sign-up forms and COPE payroll deduction forms ready for new hires.

COPE News and Updates:

Charter Schools, as we all know are alive and a threat to public education in Indiana.  The Mayor of Indianapolis is currently looking for 5 schools in Marion County to establish as Charter Schools.

Vouchers are right behind.  These coupons for scalping public education dollars have favorable support as methods to help fund Charter Schools.

This is an off year for elections but we need to stay abreast of Charter Schools, Vouchers, and other public education issues at the local, state, and national levels.

COPE is organizing a legislative day at the State House.  Please make every effort to attend.

COPE would like to establish a representative in each building.  Get involved, make a difference, contact us today!

COPE is looking to form a committee of members to meet with the IFT lobbyist, Sally Sloan, at the State House on a rotating basis.  Get involved and contact COPE today.
